33m2 Launches English-Language Service to Expand Global Reach with Improved Accessibility

– Overseas transactions account for about 10% of annual GMV, driven by rising long-stay demand amid the global K-content boom

– End-to-end support in English—from listings search to contract and payment—removes language barriers for international users

Korean short-term lease platform 33m2 announced the official launch of its English-language app experience, to meet rapidly growing global demand and improve accessibility for overseas customers.

The update is designed to help foreign residents in Korea and international users planning to move or travel to Korea find safe and convenient housing without language barriers. In recent months, 33m2 has increasingly become a practical stay option for international visitors and long-term residents, including travelers, relocation customers, and students considering extended stays in Korea.

According to 33m2, approximately 10% of its annual gross merchandise value (GMV) comes from overseas-originated payments, with more than half generated from English-speaking countries, including the United States. The company attributes this growth to the global popularity of K-content, which continues to drive interest among international visitors seeking to experience Korean culture firsthand through longer stays.

33m2 added that Korea’s foreign resident population has reached about 2.58 million, and ongoing inflows of international students and foreign workers are further increasing early-stage housing demand among newcomers. The company said the English-language service is part of its strategy to better serve these users as they settle in Korea.

With the new experience, international users can switch the app language to English in settings and complete the full journey in English—from sign-up and listing search to viewing details, signing contracts, and making payments. Previously, many foreign users relied on third-party translation tools to understand Korean-language listings. The latest update is expected to significantly improve usability and overall customer experience.

33m2 positions itself as a leading short-term lease platform in Korea, connecting people seeking flexible stays starting from as little as one week with property owners looking to better utilize vacant homes—offering an alternative to Korea’s traditional lease market, where two-year lease terms are common. The company also standardizes the security deposit at KRW 330,000, which it holds and returns to tenants upon move-out, aiming to reduce the upfront burden and support trust in the transaction process.

“By launching the English-language version, we hope to provide international users with a safe and convenient housing experience and contribute to Korea’s efforts to attract more global talent and travelers,” said Hyungjun Park, CEO of 33m2. “We will continue to enhance our service quality by reflecting the diverse needs of our users.”
