CO Folk Duo Woven Hollow Premieres “Reruns” – A Music Video 5 Years in the Making

Combining timeless folk harmonies with archival TV footage, the duo explores how nostalgia masks the uncomfortable truths of today’s world.

Colorado-based folk duo Woven Hollow returns with their hauntingly beautiful new music video “Reruns,” arriving September 17, 2025. A tender yet piercing reflection on society’s cyclical patterns, cultural nostalgia, and the illusions of progress, the track pairs cinematic storytelling with raw folk lyricism delivered through the intimate harmonies of husband-and-wife duo Anna Murphy and Van Wampler.

Originally written and recorded during the early days of the 2020 lockdown, “Reruns” became the first completed track from the duo’s upcoming debut full-length album – an ambitious, genre-blurring project five years in the making. Set to the backdrop of a folk arrangement that blends vintage textures with modern poignancy, the song unpacks the ways we escape into media and memory to avoid confronting uncomfortable truths about the present. “The internet would have us believe we’re living in a time of major progress,” the band shares, “but even the most ‘progressive’ among us still uphold habits and systems that are doing harm. ‘Reruns’ captures the nostalgia of a world where modern problems feel less present—even if that illusion isn’t real.”

The video, directed by Sam Blakesberg and Van Wampler, is a visual love letter to classic television and the complicated comfort it offers. The performance unfolds through the warped glass of a retro TV screen, playing back a meticulously edited montage of TV clips and scripted lines each synced to the song’s lyrics. “It took years of searching old transcripts, scrubbing through episodes to find exact moments, and stitching it all together,” says Van. “There were times I wasn’t sure I’d ever finish it, but watching it now – it’s certainly a piece that I’m proud of.” For Anna, who is both a performer and a practicing mental health therapist, the process of filming the final shots brought its own challenges: “As a woman and therapist, it was hard at first to be filmed with my body distorted by an old TV screen,” she shares. “But Van and I both believe in body positivity and health at every size, and his respect as both a friend and husband made me feel safe. This video really strums on those nostalgia strings. It reminds us how deeply media becomes part of our shared consciousness.”

Framed by evocative lyrics like “We can only dream that we’re in those beautiful scenes / past the frame, beyond the set or the stage,” “Reruns” offers a compelling glimpse into the emotional depth and cinematic scope of Woven Hollow’s forthcoming debut album.

About Woven Hollow:

The sound of music and the beauty of the Rocky Mountains led the winding paths of Anna Murphy and Van Wampler to cross in 2017. A few recording sessions together quickly blossomed into an ongoing collaboration which quickly solidified itself as Woven Hollow. After recording a few songs and playing a short tour in 2019, the duet set out to record its first full-length album during the Covid lock down of 2020. Years of work on the album would see a number of incredible musicians adding their talent to Woven Hollow’s compositions, and what started as a simple folk record grew into an adventurous project that can hardly be described by a single genre.
