About The Songbook Series

The Songbook Series began with early explorations at Paper Mill Playhouse and Stage One Wichita, but it found its full identity and nationwide momentum during its seven-year run at The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, where it became a major audience-development force and a fan favorite.

Rebranded from Broadway Songbook to The Songbook Series to reflect a broader musical landscape, the project explores iconic songs and the stories behind them—combining powerful vocals, personal storytelling, and accessible music history.

Past editions have explored the works of Sondheim, Irving Berlin, Mercer, Rodgers & Hart, Cole Porter, Kander & Ebb, Singer-Songwriters of the 1970s, the Birth of Rock & Roll, Hollywood’s Golden Age, and more. The virtual version won BroadwayWorld’s Best Streaming Concert (2021).

With The Holiday Songbook anchoring the national rollout, additional titles are now in development for 2027, including:
• Broadway in Love
• The Women Who Wrote the Songs
• Yankee Doodle Boy
