• Kapilvastu – The Awakening of a Prince
  In Kapilvastu, nestled in the Terai plains, Siddhartha Gautama began his path toward truth. Surrounded by royal luxury, he was moved to renounce worldly life upon witnessing suffering. Today, the Piprahwa Stupa and Ganwaria remind visitors of this turning point, where the journey from prince to seeker began.
• Sarnath – Turning the Wheel of Dharma
  It was in the Deer Park at Sarnath that the Buddha delivered his first sermon, unveiling the Four Noble Truths and the Middle Way. The majestic Dhamek Stupa, the Ashoka Pillar and serene monasteries continue to inspire pilgrims from across the world.
• Shravasti – Sanctuary of the Sangha
  At Shravasti’s Jetavana Monastery, Buddha spent 25 monsoon seasons, shaping the early Sangha community. It was here that Angulimala, a feared bandit, was transformed into a compassionate monk—a testament to the redemptive power of Buddhism.
• Sankisa – The Divine Descent

Uttar Pradesh Tourism at PATA Travel Mart 2025

Recognizing its global significance, Uttar Pradesh Tourismshowcased this Buddhist heritage at the 47th Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Travel Mart 2025, held in Bangkok. With the theme “Embark on your Bodhi Yatra in Uttar Pradesh,” the state positioned itself as a premier destination for spiritual and cultural tourism.

Inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Nagesh Singh, Ambassador of India to Thailand, the Uttar Pradesh stall became a hub for international networking and partnerships, with 20 co-exhibitors highlighting the Buddhist Circuit and broader tourism offerings. Complementing the showcase, a special roadshow hosted by the Indian Embassy in Bangkok further spotlighted Uttar Pradesh’s unique blend of heritage and spirituality.

Mr. Jaiveer Singh, Honourable Minister of Tourism and Culture, emphasized, “Uttar Pradesh is the sacred land where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment and shared his eternal message of peace. We are committed to positioning Uttar Pradesh as the spiritual and cultural capital of global tourism.”
