Young Money Expands Its Roster: Jay Jones Brings Hollygrove to the World with New Visual for “Top Back”

The Young Money rapper flips a Southern classic while on tour with Lil Wayne, channeling the raw energy of his neighborhood and showcasing his evolution as an artist.

Young Money’s newest signee, Jay Jones, is ready to prove he’s next in line. Fresh off tour with Lil Wayne, the Hollygrove native just released the visuals for his latest record “Top Back”—a modern spin on T.I.’s Mannie Fresh–produced anthem, famously reimagined by Wayne during his Da Drought 3 era.

For Jones, this drop is deeper than homage—it’s personal.

“I damn near grew up off that beat. It had that nostalgic vibe of something familiar, but I had to take it to Jones World—put my own spin on it, the raw element of New Orleans,” he says.

Hollygrove on Full Display

Directed by creative collective FREEWATER, the video was shot in the very streets that raised him. Crawfish boils, block pride, and family ties set the backdrop, with cameos from his cousins, little brother, and lifelong neighbors.

“A lot of people hear about Hollygrove and the music, but I wanted to really show the world what it looks like back here,” Jones explains. “I’m basically related to half the neighborhood.”

A Legacy Born in Music

Music runs through Jones’ DNA. His father, Ronald “J-Dawg” Jones, was part of Big Boy Records—a powerhouse during the rise of Cash Money and No Limit. That early access to studios and game shaped Jay into the artist he is today.

Now, after years of grinding, his versatility is shining through. While “Top Back” captures gritty, street-level nostalgia, his upcoming visual “Real Love” highlights his vulnerable side. Both singles are set to appear on his forthcoming album Grove Boy, dropping later this year.

Fueled by Tour Life with Wayne

Touring alongside Lil Wayne has been a masterclass in discipline and longevity.

“Wayne is still in the studio every day,” Jay shares. “Being around that makes me want to keep my work ethic at the highest level. I don’t ever want to sell myself short.”

With “Top Back,” Jay Jones isn’t just reworking a Southern classic—he’s carving his lane as a voice with range, roots, and the drive to take Hollygrove’s story to the global stage.
