SAN DIEGO, Calif. — San Diego high school wrestling standout Chloe Pearce is returning home with international gold, a growing national profile and an even greater determination to make her upcoming senior season the most impactful chapter of her athletic career.
Pearce, a member of the Class of 2027 at Rancho Bernardo High School, recently represented the United States at an international wrestling competition in Hong Kong, China, where she delivered a first-place performance against elite international competition.
The victory represents more than another medal for Pearce. It is the culmination of years of disciplined training, sacrifice and steady development in one of the country’s fastest-growing high school sports.
“Representing Team USA was an incredible honor,” Pearce said. “Stepping onto the mat knowing I was competing for something bigger than myself gave me even more motivation. Winning first place showed me that the work, sacrifices and challenges have all been preparing me for opportunities like this.”
From San Diego to the International Stage
Pearce has established herself as one of Southern California’s most promising young wrestlers through her physical strength, technical ability and relentless competitive mindset.
Competing for Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego, she has continued to test herself against high-level opponents throughout California and across the country. Her recent accomplishments include a fifth-place finish at the 2026 California state championships, championship-level performances in the San Diego Section and an expanding résumé of national tournament competition.
Her results reflect an athlete who is not afraid of difficult brackets, unfamiliar opponents or high-pressure moments. Pearce’s available competition profile lists a 26–6 record, including 16 victories by fall, demonstrating both consistency and the ability to decisively finish matches.
Yet those closest to Pearce recognize that her value extends well beyond wins and losses.

“Wrestling has taught me how to remain focused when things get uncomfortable,” Pearce said. “You learn how to respond after a difficult match, how to keep working when nobody is watching and how to believe in yourself before everyone else sees what you are capable of.”

With her senior season approaching, Pearce is entering a pivotal period in her athletic journey.
Her goals include competing for a California state championship, continuing to succeed at national-level events and positioning herself for opportunities to wrestle collegiately. She also hopes her journey can encourage younger girls—especially those in San Diego—to enter the sport with confidence.
Girls’ wrestling has provided Pearce with a platform to demonstrate strength, determination and leadership. She wants young athletes watching her career to understand that they belong in competitive spaces and that success can be built through patience, resilience and consistent effort.
“I want younger girls to see that they can compete at the highest level,” Pearce said. “You do not have to wait for someone else to give you confidence. You earn confidence by putting in the work and continuing to show up.”
Her senior campaign will include a demanding schedule of training, travel and competition. The financial requirements associated with elite wrestling can be substantial, including tournament entry fees, transportation, lodging, equipment, strength and conditioning, nutritional support and specialized coaching.
