Celebrity cannabis partnerships have become commonplace over the decades. Musicians, athletes and actors have all put their names on products, but many have struggled to stand out in an increasingly crowded market.
KANHA, an award-winning cannabis edibles brand that pioneered fast acting technology, is betting that authenticity is what will resonate with consumers.
The California-born brand has partnered with Cypress Hill frontman and Dr. Greenthumb’s founder B-Real to launch the KANHA x INSANE Gummy, a limited-edition hemp-derived THC edible available in states where compliant hemp products can legally be shipped. The Sour Black Cherry edible is inspired by the iconic OG strain and delivers 15 milligrams of hemp-derived THC per gummy using KANHA’s proprietary fast-acting formulation.
Both brands say the product was built around a shared commitment to quality and cannabis culture. For B-Real, whose relationship with cannabis (and advocacy for the plant) has been part of his public identity for decades, that nuance was crucial to the partnership.
“This is more than just a brand deal. I was already familiar with their product, standards, how they think about the consumer and it just worked,” B-Real said. “My name isn’t just on the product, it’s behind it.”
The collaboration arrives as the hemp-derived THC market continues to reshape how consumers access the plant. Unlike state-licensed cannabis products that can be found in a dispensary, federally compliant hemp-derived cannabinoids are available from coast to coast, giving brands an opportunity to reach consumers far beyond the borders of adult-use cannabis markets. For KANHA, that shift created an opportunity to share B-Real’s legacy to a completely new audience.
“B-Real has spent decades building his community at the crossroads of cannabis and music, with equal passion for quality and authenticity, and a refusal to compromise,” said Cameron Clarke, CEO of Sunderstorm. “Two brands that care about the same things found each other, and the KANHA x INSANE gummy is the result. We’ve always cared about bringing California cannabis culture and innovation to the world, and this is a huge milestone in that journey.”
KANHA, and its parent company Sunderstorm, has spent more than a decade building its reputation in licensed cannabis markets through precisely dosed gummies made with natural ingredients and fast-acting nano-emulsion technology. The company has increasingly focused on bringing that same product philosophy and California cannabis genetics to consumers throughout the world via its hemp line and strategic expansions to Thailand, Australia, the United Kingdom and Germany.
“Trust is where we started,” Clarke said. “There is no community without trust.”
The launch also coincides with B-Real’s latest chapter as both an artist and entrepreneur. Alongside the gummy, KANHA and INSANE are releasing a collection of limited-edition merchandise as part of the “Strictly for the Culture” campaign, timed with Cypress Hill’s upcoming Spanish-language album, Dios Bendiga, and the group’s tour.
The collaboration also comes at a pivotal moment for the hemp industry. As lawmakers consider new restrictions that could dramatically reshape or even eliminate the federally compliant hemp-derived THC market, brands are racing to establish themselves while consumers still have legal access to these products.
For companies like KANHA, the launch is both a celebration of cannabis culture and a reminder that the future of hemp remains uncertain. The goal is no longer simply attaching a famous name to a package. It’s creating products that feel authentic to the communities that helped shape cannabis culture in the first place. In a marketplace crowded with familiar faces, authenticity may prove to be the industry’s most valuable ingredient, especially as the window for federally compliant hemp products may be beginning to close.
