Los Angeles, CA — Chantal Triay, Executive Director of Corazón, continues to advance the nonprofit’s mission of building safe housing, expanding access to education, and strengthening community development programs for underserved families in Mexico.
As Executive Director, Triay oversees Corazón’s Construction, Education, and Family and Community programs. Under her leadership, the organization delivers practical solutions that address housing insecurity, limited access to education, and long-term economic stability. One of Corazón’s most recognized initiatives, the “Build a House in a Day” program, brings U.S. volunteers to Mexico to construct a safe, permanent home for a family in need in just one day, providing immediate security and dignity.
Triay brings extensive construction industry experience to her role. Earlier in her career, she managed complex construction projects across Southern California, including sustainable developments, prefabricated buildings, and medical research facilities. She became the first woman construction Superintendent at one of Southern California’s top five Tenant Improvement Contractors, a firm also ranked among the region’s top Women Owned Businesses.
Her leadership has earned international recognition. Triay has spoken at global construction conferences in China on sustainability, construction technology, and global industry trends. She has also served as a speaker at the Beach Women in Engineering Conference at California State University, Long Beach, and continues to work closely with the university’s Construction Engineering Management Department to provide students with hands on construction and service-learning opportunities.
In addition to her professional work, Triay is the author of The Girl Who Said She Could, a children’s book that promotes confidence, perseverance, and empowerment for young girls. In 2023, she was named one of the “Top 30 Women Leaders to Look Out For” by Entrepreneurs Herald Magazine.
Looking ahead, Triay plans to expand Corazón’s impact by deepening partnerships, strengthening leadership pathways, and creating more experiential learning opportunities that bridge construction and education. Her focus remains on sustainability, technology, and inclusive leadership to support long term community change.
“Whether through housing, education, or mentorship, the work is about creating access and opportunity,” said Triay. “When people have a stable home and support, they can build a future that lasts.”
