Emerald Ecovations Introduces SUSTAIN™ Tree-Free CPG Board

Sustainable CPG Board Utilizes Bagasse, A Rapidly Renewable Fiber to Fight Deforestation

Huntington, NY — Emerald Ecovations today introduced SUSTAIN™ Tree-Free CPG Board. The first of its kind renewable fiber Tree-Free packaging board designed for brands in cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceuticals, and dry food packaging.

Made from a blend of bagasse, a rapidly renewable, Tree-Free fiber and FSC-certified fibers, SUSTAIN™ board delivers the print surface and structural performance brands expect from conventional paperboard – without relying on virgin trees.

The board  features both uncoated and coated (C1S) at 85 brightness, giving brands a clean, bright print face for cartons, sleeves, and rigid packaging. By offering a Tree-Free innovation, it provides a solution for the growing number of consumers demanding sustainable and healthier solutions.

“Today’s consumer wants packaging that lines up with their health and wellness objectives. For too many years, consumer packaging has endured conflicting and confusing messaging around sustainability. With the launch of Sustain, brands can highlight their commitment to sustainability and the growing demand in the health and wellness movement” said Ralph Bianculli, CEO of Emerald Ecovations.

Leveraging Emeralds Ecovations renewable fiber technology, SUSTAIN™ is a major advancement for CPG packaging board. It utilizes bagasse, which is a sugarcane byproduct, and FSC fiber, without reliance on virgin trees.

What the SUSTAIN™ board offers

  • Tree-Free fiber base – bagasse blended with FSC-Certified fibers, no virgin trees
  • Uncoated and C1S (coated one side) at 85 brightness for a bright, consistent print face
  • No PFAS added
  • Engineered for cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceutical, food packaging, and premium CPG applications
  • Available across a range of weights to suit different packaging formats, in coated and uncoated options

“Packaging has become a place where brands show what they stand for,” Bianculli added. “The companies that get out front on this – Tree-Free, no PFAS added, and made to perform – are the ones customers are going to trust. This board lets them lead instead of catching up.”

The SUSTAIN™ board is launching in a limited initial release. Production for the first run is being allocated on a first-come basis, and brands that want material for early programs are encouraged to reserve their allocation.
