From Broadway to Body Mechanics: San Francisco’s Massage Garage Launches Innovative Pain Relief Therapy

San Francisco, CA – September 5, 2025 – After 25 years performing on stages including Broadway’s CATS, Gary Mendelson has shifted his spotlight to healing the body in a whole new way. At his practice, The Massage Garage which is located in San Francisco’s Healing Arts Building, Gary combines his artistic discipline with advanced therapeutic expertise to help clients break free from pain and rediscover movement.

Recently, The Massage Garage introduced Radial Shockwave Therapy (RSWT), a cutting-edge, non-invasive treatment proven to accelerate recovery from chronic conditions like plantar fasciitis, rotator cuff injuries, and TMJ tension. To celebrate the launch, introductory sessions are being offered at $99 through September 2025.

“I think of myself as a body mechanic,” says Mendelson, a California Certified Advanced Neuromuscular Therapist and Health Educator since 2009. “Just like a finely tuned car, the human body runs best when its systems are aligned. My goal is to help people eliminate pain and teach them how their bodies can heal themselves.”

With a background unlike most health practitioners, Mendelson’s career has been defined by resilience and reinvention. Years of grueling rehearsals and stage performances introduced him to therapeutic massage as a way to recover faster. Later, he built and sold a successful candle business in New York before moving to San Francisco to pursue his passion for healing full-time.

At The Massage Garage, his clients consistently praise his work as life-changing, with dozens of five-star reviews describing him as “a healer through and through” and “an angel on earth.” His approach integrates deep neuromuscular therapy with education, empowering clients to understand and manage their own bodies long after the session ends.

Located at 1801 Bush St., Suite 131A, San Francisco, CAThe Massage Garage is part of the city’s thriving wellness community, providing results-driven care for performers, athletes, and anyone seeking relief from pain.
