The National Museum of Wildlife Art has acquired a significant left-handed painting by Nancy Glazier, created after experiencing the limited use of her right hand that marked a pivotal transition in her career from an acclaimed realist approach to wildlife art to the creation of left-handed expressionist depictions of wildlife. This transition reflects her resilience and evolving artistic voice, however, Jackson Hole art dealer, Melchoor Moore says, “The left-handed expressionist pieces created by Glazier are few and hard to find. I believe that collectors of Glazier’s works will be happy to see one of these pieces appearing on the secondary market, since I haven’t seen one of them since 2019 at the “Hot and Dusty” show in 2019 at the Lost City Museum in Overton, although I’ve heard rumors of about nine left-handed pieces having been created.
The brokerage of Nancy Glazier’s “Bullseye” to the National Museum of Wildlife Art by art dealer Melchor Moore marks a transition in Moore’s career from boutique art fair dealing to providing services to private art collectors. “The Glazier was part of one of my client’s larger collections, which included a John Nieto, and Russian impressionist, Nikolai Timkov, but I found interest in the Glazier, because the Wildlife Museum had previously acquired some of her realist works, and we thought Glazier’s expressionist bison would be a nice addition to the museum’s collection.”
The donation follows the inaugural exhibition curated by Dr. Kennis Forte, newly appointed at the National Museum of Wildlife Art, featuring paired works to encourage close visual comparison and dialogue about artistic evolution.
