Locally Launches Agentic Storefronts, Connecting AI Shopping Agents to Brand Retail Networks in Real Time

New product makes authorized dealer inventory visible and purchasable to the fast-growing AI shopping channel, where 63% of queries carry local intent

New Orleans — Locally, the leader in online-to-offline commerce technology, today announced the availability of Agentic Storefronts, a new product that gives consumer brands a dedicated, AI-ready local shopping destination built on their own domain. Agentic Storefronts is designed to make a brand’s authorized dealer network fully visible, queryable, and transactable via AI shopping agents, the fastest-growing commerce channel in retail today.

AI-driven retail traffic has grown 1,200% year over year, and 58% of consumers now use AI tools for shopping research. Yet the single largest category of agentic shopping queries, local availability, has remained largely unserved. According to a BrightLocal study, 63% of agentic shopping prompts contain local intent: shoppers asking not just what to buy, but where to find it nearby, and how to get it today.

Picture a shopper asking an AI assistant on a Friday afternoon, “I need a waterproof rain shell for a hike tomorrow, where can I get one near me today?” The agent can surface candidate products from brand catalogs. What it can’t do is verify whether any store within driving distance actually has the shell, in the right size, ready for same-day pickup. So the agent defaults to whatever option it can confirm. The brand missed the sale and never knew it was even in the running.

Until now, most brand websites offered AI agents no structured way to answer that question. Page optimization tools and content platforms can improve how agents discover and understand brand products. None of them can tell an agent what is actually in stock at a store near the shopper today, or offer a path to get it there.

Agentic shopping isn’t a future trend; it’s already restructuring how millions of consumers buy local, said Mike Massey, CEO and Founder of Locally. Every day a brand’s local presence stays invisible to these agents is a day of sales going to whoever’s data was easier to find. Agentic Storefronts puts the brand’s live inventory, retail locations, and in-store services back at the center of the local recommendation, where they belong.

The Infrastructure Behind Agentic Storefronts

Locally’s Agentic Storefronts lives at a dedicated address under the brand’s own domain (stores.brand.com). That matters because AI agents and search crawlers immediately recognize it as an official, authoritative source, not a third-party listing or a scraped data feed.

At the center of the system is a direct connection point built specifically for AI agents. Instead of having an AI assistant guess at product availability by parsing web pages, it can simply ask Locally’s endpoint directly: “Is this in stock? Where? Can I buy it?” The answer comes back in real time, with accurate store hours and a clear path to purchase.

Surrounding that core are three supporting layers. At its core is a brand-specific MCP endpoint that lets agents query real-time product availability, store hours, and purchase paths directly, without scraping. Supporting it: a nightly LLMs.txt knowledge map, JSON-LD on product pages for instant local-inventory detection, and full Schema.org markup with per-store sitemaps for complete indexability.

The result: when a shopper asks an AI assistant to find a product near them, Locally’s infrastructure is already speaking the AI’s language, with accurate, real-time answers ready to deliver.

What Agents Find When They Arrive

The content layer of Agentic Storefronts gives AI agents the full picture they need to make a confident, localized recommendation: real-time, UPC-variant-level inventory across the brand’s authorized dealer network; vetted store details including hours, address, and dealer attributes; brand-curated fulfillment paths including Buy Online Pick Up In Store, Reserve Online Pick Up In Store, Same-Day Delivery, and Ship-to-Store; and dealer service attributes, the kind of specifics, such as installation availability or expert staff credentials, that increasingly shape AI agent recommendations for high-consideration purchases.

Consider a shopper in Salt Lake City asking an AI agent on a Friday afternoon, “I need a Thule roof rack for my 2022 Toyota Tacoma. We’re heading to the mountains in the morning.” Without Agentic Storefronts, the agent can identify compatible Thule rack systems from product catalogs, but it has no live way to know whether any nearby retailer actually has the right fit kit in stock today, or whether anyone can get it to the shopper before tomorrow morning. With Agentic Storefronts, the agent gets a verified answer in seconds: a Thule retailer 4.2 miles away has the rack and the fit kit for that specific Tacoma model in stock, with Same-Day Delivery available before 6 PM. The rack arrives at the shopper’s door before dinner. The brand keeps a customer it would otherwise have lost, and the local retailer makes the sale.

The result is a local dealer network that is as visible and actionable to AI agents as the largest e-commerce platforms, while remaining fully controlled by the brand.

“Most brands have no idea how often AI agents visit their product pages and leave empty-handed,” said Billy McKee, President of Locally. “The brand’s competitive landscape has fundamentally changed. If an AI agent can’t find verified, real-time local inventory, the brand immediately loses the customer and the relationship. Agentic Storefronts is the answer: it feeds the agent the structured data it needs, keeping the transaction inside the authorized dealer network. We spent a decade building the network of 65,000 retailers. All brands have to do is activate the storefront. The infrastructure is our problem. The market advantage is theirs.”

The Scale Advantage

Most consumer brands already have a same-day-delivery footprint that they have never been able to broadcast. Through Locally’s network of 65,000-plus connected retailers, a brand with as few as 220 authorized stores reaches 90% of the U.S. population with same-day delivery. For most enterprise brands, that coverage approaches 99%. Until now, none of that footprint has been visible to AI shopping agents, so local and same-day queries defaulted to whoever the agent could verify online. Agentic Storefronts is the broadcast layer. Once activated, the brand’s full retail footprint becomes queryable, verifiable, and actionable to every AI agent shopping on a customer’s behalf, putting the brand in direct competition with the largest online platforms for local and same-day shopping queries.

A New Model for Retail Commerce

Agentic Storefronts addresses a gap that page optimization tools and internal analytics platforms cannot close. Solutions that structure brand content for agent discovery stop working the moment a query contains local intent. Without real-time inventory from an authorized dealer network and a direct path to purchase, an AI agent has no local answer and defaults to the location with available inventory. For most brands today, that means the sale goes to a major retailer or marketplace. Locally’s decade-long network of direct retailer inventory connections, 65,000-plus active retailers and counting, is the infrastructure that makes a local answer possible. It is not something that can be replicated through page optimization alone.

Analytics and Attribution

Locally’s intelligence layer within Agentic Storefronts, for the first time, separates AI-driven traffic from human shopper activity. Brand teams see how often storefronts are being crawled by agents, how frequently they are queried for live inventory, and how AI-sourced traffic flows through the purchase funnel, alongside the store-level engagement and indirect in-store sales attribution data that Locally has provided for over a decade.
