Noctiria Brings Urban Horror and Roguelite Deckbuilding to Steam

Doesn’t Matter Games launches a dark 1990s-inspired deckbuilder built around six distinct heroes, branching runs, persistent progression and a city shaped by Corruption.

MILAN, ITALY — September 2026

Independent studio Doesn’t Matter Games has released Noctiria on Steam for Windows PC, bringing its blend of urban horror and roguelite deckbuilding to players worldwide. Set in a decaying city inspired by the 1990s, the game combines turn-based card combat with branching handcrafted maps, persistent progression and a deliberately oppressive atmosphere.

Noctiria is built around six playable heroes — Shadow, Mist, Void, Parasite, Abyss and Reflection — and each approaches combat differently. Their starting decks, card pools and signature mechanics are designed to change the way a run is played rather than simply alter statistics. Players are encouraged to experiment with aggressive builds, defensive strategies, status-heavy combinations and delayed setups that can unfold several turns later.

Combat revolves around reading enemy intentions, managing Mana and Shield, and combining status effects that can influence entire turns. Poison, Burning, Paralysis and other effects can be stacked, triggered or consumed as part of larger combinations. Consumable relics add another layer of decision-making, offering temporary advantages such as healing, additional Mana, card draw or ways to remove negative effects.

The full game includes four acts, Elite encounters, Boss battles, merchants, treasures, resting areas and unknown events. Routes are not presented as a simple checklist: players must decide which risks are worth taking, which resources should be conserved and when a detour may be necessary to strengthen a deck before the next major encounter.

One of Noctiria’s central systems is Corruption, which extends beyond combat. It can influence several parts of the journey, adding risk to decisions made while resting, trading or moving through the city. The idea is to make progression feel useful without allowing every increase in power to become a completely safe choice.

Progress also continues between runs. Players can unlock new cards and heroes, gain experience and permanently improve cards through multiple upgrade levels. Over time, this can reshape the way a hero begins future runs and open new strategic possibilities without removing the uncertainty that defines the roguelite structure.

Noctiria launches with support for eight languages: English, Italian, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese. A free demo also remains available on Steam for players who want to experience the first act before entering the full game.

“Releasing Noctiria is the end of a very long development journey, but it also feels like the beginning of something new. For months this city existed mainly in my head and on my computer. Now players around the world can finally enter it, build their own strategies and discover what is waiting below.”
