Freaky Foot Tours has opened its 2026 fall calendar — Halloween included — in Flagstaff, Prescott, and Tucson, as its verified review count crosses 1,700 and its Route 66 walking tour heads into the highway’s centennial year.

The company, owned by Susan Johnson and her son Nick Jones, says the same rhythm repeats every year: nothing books up faster than October, and within October, nothing vanishes faster than a Friday or Saturday evening. Hesitant planners do get an out — a reservation can be canceled free until 24 hours before start time.
The after-dark lineup gives each city its own ghost walk. Prescott has the Prescott Ghost Tour; Tucson, the Downtown Tucson Haunted History Tour. Flagstaff gets two evening options: the Downtown Flagstaff Haunted History Tour and Mountain Town of Madness, which admits adults only. None of these are seasonal pop-ups. Miss the Halloween rush and the ghost walks keep leaving after dark anyway, every month of the year, in every city the company serves — always on foot, always behind a guide who lives locally.
The daytime side of the schedule has a birthday coming. Co-founder Nick Jones treats the review total less as a marketing statistic than as a verdict on his staff. “Ten years in, this milestone belongs to our guides,” he said. “Guests come for the ghost stories. The reviews, again and again, are about the person telling them.”
For Susan Johnson, his mother and the company’s other co-founder, the work that earns those reviews happens long before anyone steps onto a sidewalk. “Every story we tell starts in the archives,” she said. “We spend the year with newspapers and court records so that what guests hear on a dark street corner is true.”
From less than $150 to a three-city operation
None of those numbers arrived overnight. Johnson and Jones opened for business in Flagstaff back in 2015 with under $150 behind them; ten years on, the operation runs in three cities and the guest count has passed 30,000.
