Off with the Rose-Colored Glasses-Comedy and Commentary for Women of a Certain Age

This amusing book tackles subjects we women of a certain age put up with but can still laugh about. What are your pet peeves? Annoying people? Advertisements promising miracles? Lack of sleep? Frequent bathroom breaks? Farts?  Memory loss? Lack of clothes that fit? Other annoyances?

If you have muttered underneath your breath or gripped to your friends about these inconveniences, here is your mini-rant out loud and on paper.

Each chapter is short reminiscent of Erma Bombeck’s bestselling books of the 50s and 60s. But now, we have new complaints about computer problems, the internet, and online dating, plus the same one’s women have had to cope with for years.

Here is a sample from the chapter, How to Avoid Propaganda Against Women of a Certain Age: Reading women’s magazine online or in print can be hazardous to your marriage, your ego, make you gain weight, or cause depression.

I did stop taking those quizzes, but then I saw one that talked about your breasts. I just had to see how far I had fallen in their ratings. They suggested checking how many pencils you could fit underneath your breasts. None was extra perky, two was still perky, and down the scale to six-flat tires. “I’m not that bad,” I thought, so I tried it.  I could have supplied a whole kindergarten class with pencils.

So, relax for a few minutes. Sit down with a cup of coffee or glass of wine and escape from today’s gloomy news and identify with these stories.
