Norristown pastor and radio host joins a fight against big money in politics
Rev. Scott Dorsey, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church in Norristown and host of “The Scott Dorsey Show,” has been named Eastern Pennsylvania State Director for Make Voters The Donors, a cross-partisan campaign to break the stranglehold of money in politics.
In his new role, Rev. Dorsey will work with congregations, community leaders, and civic groups to build grassroots support for Voter Dollars: a plan to give every registered voter money to donate to federal candidates, so that no candidate has an excuse for taking money from billionaires and special interests.
“Rev. Dorsey has seen firsthand the destructive role of money in politics, and he speaks with moral authority,” said Dan McMillan, Executive Director of Make Voters The Donors. “He is committed to giving the power back to the voters by making them the donors and is uniquely equipped to advance our effort to bring Americans together in affirming the ideals which make us a nation.”
Make Voters The Donors builds support for Voter Dollars in three presidential swing states: Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. They plan to win over enough voters in these crucial states so that in 2028, the presidential candidates can no longer avoid talking about the elephant in the room: Washington listens only to the big donors who fund today’s absurdly expensive election campaigns. By leveraging the outsized attention that voters in these states will receive, MVTD aims to put the money problem and the Voter Dollars solution on the national agenda.
Rev. Dorsey, who is widely known for his pastoral leadership and his digital and broadcast presence, is taking on the role at a time when concerns about political division and public distrust remain high.
MVTD says his background in faith leadership and civic engagement makes him well-suited to connect with communities across political and geographic lines.
