Seatlr Founder Is Building a New Search Engine to Rethink How We Search the Web

For more than two decades, the way people search the web has remained remarkably familiar. While the internet itself has transformed dramatically, the fundamental search experience has evolved far more slowly.

Ali Hadi, founder of travel technology platform Seatlr, believes it is time to rethink that experience.

Hadi is preparing to launch a new global search engine built around a different approach to discovering information online. The project is expected to begin its initial public release in September 2026, while its name and full product identity remain under wraps for now.

Rather than simply building another version of an existing search engine, the project started with a broader question: what should searching the internet look like if it were designed today?

“Search has been one of the most important gateways to the internet for decades, but the fundamental experience has changed surprisingly little,” Hadi said. “We wanted to start again from the user experience and ask what could be done differently.”

Rethinking the Search Experience

The team is deliberately revealing little about how the new search engine will work ahead of its public debut.

What Hadi is willing to say is that the project is being built around the idea that search can be fundamentally reimagined, not simply improved.

The goal is to create an experience that feels more natural for the way people use the internet today, while giving users greater freedom to discover and explore information.

Artificial intelligence will support parts of the platform, but Hadi does not see AI itself as the product. Instead, it is one of the technologies being used to build a broader search experience.

Some of the project’s most distinctive elements are being intentionally kept private until users can experience them firsthand.

From Seatlr to a Much Bigger Challenge

The search project follows Hadi’s launch of Seatlr, a social travel platform designed to connect air travelers and provide useful information throughout their journeys.

Search represents a considerably larger challenge.

Hadi sees the upcoming search engine not as a standalone experiment, but as the beginning of a broader technology vision.

“Search is our first step, not our final destination,” he said.

For now, even the search engine’s name remains undisclosed.

That secrecy is intentional. Rather than explaining every difference before launch, Hadi wants the product itself to make the case when people are finally able to use it.

That leaves one fundamental question at the center of the project: after decades of searching the web in largely the same way, are users ready for something different?

They will soon have the opportunity to find out.

The new search engine is expected to begin its initial public release in September 2026.
