The London Breeze Film Festival recently announced the official selection and upcoming screening of Happy as Larry, the latest feature film from British director Hugo André and producer Lucas A. Ferrara. The film will premiere during the festival’s 2025 edition, which runs October 22–26 across venues including Riverside Studios, The Garden Cinema, and online via Breeze Online.
Set on the hauntingly beautiful Isle of Skye, Happy as Larry is a darkly comic and emotionally resonant story about a reclusive novelist whose plans for solitude are upended by an unexpected encounter with a relentlessly cheerful stranger. The film explores themes of mortality, meaning, and the strange ways human connection can disrupt even the most carefully constructed isolation.
“Making this film felt like walking a tightrope between despair and absurdity,” said Hugo André, the film’s director and co-writer. “Larry is a man who’s given up on the idea of joy, and Dale is the unwelcome proof that joy still exists. I wanted to explore what happens when someone who’s emotionally bankrupt is forced to reckon with hope. London Breeze is the perfect place to share that reckoning.”
“Some stories don’t whisper — they scream through the silence until you have no choice but to listen,” said producer Lucas A. Ferrara. “Happy as Larry is about the quiet battles people fight every day, and the strange, sometimes hilarious ways they survive them. It’s raw, it’s unflinching, and it’s exactly the kind of story that belongs at a festival like London Breeze, where emotional truth is never watered down.”
