Pelican Point Media’s, Jaclyn and Ike Suri, known for a variety of well-known horror, drama, and comedy films, are proud to announce a partnership with Jay Gianukos in the feature documentary called AN ORDINARY COUPLE 2.0.
Twenty years in the making, AN ORDINARY COUPLE follows Bernardo Puccio and Orin Kennedy
on an unexpected journey from their funeral to their wedding. Yes, in that order. Unable to legally marry in 2006, Bernardo and Orin celebrate their longtime relationship by inviting family and friends to their “living funeral” at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. An impressive marble monument is unveiled, inscribed with their achievement
“Two Hearts, Two Souls. Together in Life.Forever in Eternity.”
The event inspires Bernardo and Orin to examine their lives: what it was like growing up gay in 1950s and ’60s America as well as their quest to find themselves that brought them to Los Angeles, and to each other.
As the status of gay marriage rights in California hangs in the balance, the film follows Bernardo and Orin as they plan their wedding. On Oct. 12, 2008, family and friends gather at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills to celebrate the moment when, at last, they have the right afforded other Americans. Just 33 days later, California’s Proposition 8 passes. Although the status of marriage equality might be murky, their commitment to each other stays steadfast and their monument stands as a dignified symbol of the struggle the gay community has endured for decades.
AN ORDINARY COUPLE 2.0 has been updated to include an epilogue following Orin and Bernardo as the Supreme Court’s 2015 ruling made same-sex marriage a right nationwide.
Orin and Bernardo will be entering in to their 50th year as partners and seventeenth year as a legally married couple. And today they continue to enjoy their life together as… An Ordinary Couple.
“This team is nothing short of unstoppable,” says Jaclyn Suri
