At Booth 307, the company’s leaders will discuss AI for patient access, digital front doors, and administrative workload with health care strategists
ATLANTA – BinaryWorks, which builds websites and AI tools for health systems and other organizations, will send its senior leadership to SHSMD Connections 2026 as hospitals weigh how artificial intelligence is changing the way patients look for care. CTO Karthik Kalimuthu and VP Shawn Post will meet attendees at Booth 307 during the conference’s exhibit days.
Sathish Kumar Mariappan said a growing number of patients now put health questions to AI chatbots before they contact a provider, asking about symptoms, doctors, and where to go for care. That shift, he said, has left many hospital marketing teams with a new blind spot: they often do not know how these tools describe their organizations, or what happens when patients arrive on their websites with the same questions.
The American Hospital Association conference for health care strategy, marketing, and communications leaders meets in downtown Baltimore from September 27-29, 2026. It is organized by SHSMD, the association’s membership group for strategy professionals.
From First Question to Booked Appointment
“The question health system executives ask now is where AI can make a measurable difference in patient volume, and how fast it can prove that to a CFO or a board,” said Sathish Kumar Mariappan, CEO of BinaryWorks. “Marketing leaders want to see the whole path, from the moment a patient asks a chatbot about care to the moment an appointment is on the calendar.”
BinaryWorks offers tools for both ends of that path: ConversionBox, which supports AI search and patient-facing assistants on hospital websites, and AgentixBox, which supplies AI agents for operational work behind the scenes. According to the company, it has used AI agents to support appointment scheduling, prior authorization processing, and referral coordination for health care administrative teams.
Guardrails for Patient-Facing AI
“Patient-facing AI has to be accurate, private, and clear about what it will not do,” said Karthik Kalimuthu, CTO of BinaryWorks. “An assistant should help someone find the right physician or location, not give clinical advice, and every agent has to work inside the systems and permissions a hospital already controls.”
SHSMD lists AI in health care among the topics its members and conference attendees most want covered, alongside rural health, digital marketing, and data analytics. The BinaryWorks team will be in the exhibit area SHSMD calls the Solution Center, and more information is posted at www.thebinaryworks.com/events/shsmd-connections-2026/
