Charlotte Parker Caminos is a local author in Bucks County who recently saw the release of her second historical novel entitled Annabelle’s Journey Continues. It is an Immigrant Story of Survival in World War I and a sequel to New Beginnings: Annabelle’s Story.

Inspired by her grandmother’s life, Charlotte decided to write a historical saga about what many female immigrants to this country experienced in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. The saga begins with the journey across the ocean from Hungary to the United States and details the challenges and conflicts faced by this young woman, Annabelle, as she managed the passing on the ship and attempted to negotiate Ellis Island. Once inside the United States, with the help of her grandmother and her small family, she attempted to create a life for herself that would bring her a family experience. However, that was easier to think about then to achieve.

In the second novel just released Annabelle and her family are attempting to survive the challenges that World War I presents to immigrant families residing in New York City. The story is rich in history, details the changes that affected the country and the fears and struggles that immigrant families faced. It is replete with emotional, psychological and physical journeys that the family members underwent. Facing the fears, struggles and loneliness that females experienced during this period of history, the family discovers unprecedented ways to support each other through the conflicts and challenges it experiences.

Charlotte is a retired Human Resources professional with a Masters Degree in Organizational Management. She has been writing since her teenage years, supported and encouraged by a father who believed in education and encouraged learning. When she retired at the age of 73, she decided to undertake the completion of her first novel that she had begun writing years before.

In addition to these two novels, Charlotte has also written a children’s book, beautifully illustrated by Sharon Bitten, another retired female, entitled We Have A New Baby At Our House. This book is unique in that it approaches the difficulty in accepting a new addition to the family from the viewpoint of the child involved, Written in the voice of the child, families who have purchased this book (available on ETSY) have stated that the assimilation of the new member of the family was made much easier through multiple readings of the book.

At the age of 80, Charlotte experienced seeing her first novel in print. She is now in the process of completing the trilogy with a third and final novel that follows the experiences of this immigrant family, Annabelle and Alfredo Caruso.

The novels are available on Amazon.com.
