From a redundancy notice during the pandemic to becoming one of the UK’s most trusted delivery services, the journey of Plan B Logistics is a testament to resilience. The Buckinghamshire-based firm recently celebrated a major milestone, closing out 2025 ranked as the 6th best courier and delivery service in the country on Trustpilot.

We caught up with founder Don Morley to discuss the personal story behind the company’s name, the family heritage woven into its branding, and how a focus on service has allowed them to grow entirely through referrals.

Q: You’ve just closed out 2025 with a remarkable achievement, ranking as the 6th best courier and delivery service in the entire country on Trustpilot. What does this specific national recognition mean for you, especially considering the company is only five years old?

Don Morley:as a business we strive on customer service and currently have over 135 reviews on Trustpilot with all but one of them being 5 star and the one that isn’t is a 4 star, which has given us a 4.9 rating, along with the 6 business excellence awards that we have won in the last 3 and a half years.  It’s a great testament to the way that we work with clear, deliberate focused communication with clients at the collection and delivery end

Q: The origin of “Plan B Logistics” is deeply personal, stemming from your experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. Can you take us back to that conversation with your mother and the moment the concept for the business was born?

Don Morley: I was actually put into care aged 18 months and just over 10 years ago I tracked down my mum and half sisters and now hardly a day goes by when we don’t chat in some way or another, it was a general conversation and I told her that after being made redundant we were chatting away and she came out with “ we’ll plan b it is then”, it was a few weeks after that pondering what to do I thought about what it was I liked doing, and I love driving and thought one evening let’s see what it takes.  The following morning my adoptive dad called me and said “ why don’t you become a courier”, he very kindly lent me some money to put a deposit on a van, and Plan B Logistics was born.

Q: Your fleet’s branding—maroon, light blue, and white—stands out on the road, but it also holds a special significance regarding your family history. Could you explain the tribute behind these specific color choices?

Don Morley:I am what is known as a padbrat, my birth dad was in the royal corp of transport and I was born in Germany, when I found my birth mum I was obviously re-introduced to family members which is where I found out about my grandfather ( on my mum’s side) who was a paratrooper in the parachute regiment, hence the maroon colour and both of my adoptive parents both served in the Royal Air Force for the blue colouring, and it just a coincidence that they go well together

Q: In an industry often driven by aggressivearents  marketing, you’ve mentioned that you haven’t had to advertise for the last two years. To what do you attribute this ability to grow almost exclusively through referrals and word-of-mouth?

Don Morley:having being trading for 5 years I have built up a customer base of regular clients that keep me more than busy, the new clients i get are normally by word of mouth, networking or by just answering  posts on facebook, and even people finding me via trustpilot so we have grown slightly but not by much, but as a sole trader, with just myself in the business allows me to keep a strict control on the customer service side of things.

Q: Now that you’ve established Plan B Logistics as a leading independent provider in Buckinghamshire and beyond, what is the primary focus for the team as you head into 2026?

Don Morley:as i just said at the moment it is just me in the business, so i am looking at employing a new driver and getting another van, which is a big frightening step, but one i need to make
