DPP-Flash Launches AI-Powered Digital Product Passport Platform for Automated DPP and ESPR Compliance

European technology startup DPP-Flash has officially launched its cloud-based Software-as-a-Service platform for automated Digital Product Passport (DPP) creation and ESPR compliance. The platform is designed to help manufacturers, brands, importers and retailers prepare their products for the new requirements of the European Union’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).

As a European Digital Product Passport provider, DPP-Flash aims to make the creation, management and maintenance of Digital Product Passports significantly faster and simpler. The AI-powered DPP software automates large parts of the process, from analyzing existing product documentation and extracting relevant information to identifying missing data, contacting suppliers and generating structured Digital Product Passports.

The Digital Product Passport is becoming an important component of Europe’s digital and sustainable product economy. Companies affected by the ESPR will increasingly need to provide structured, machine-readable and accessible information about their products. For many small and medium-sized enterprises, however, collecting and processing this information across hundreds or even thousands of documents can create a substantial administrative and technical burden.

DPP-Flash addresses this challenge with an AI-powered Digital Product Passport platform that allows companies to use the product information and documentation they already have.

Companies can upload existing product documents to the DPP-Flash platform, including technical data sheets, bills of materials, certificates, safety documents and other compliance-related information. The platform’s artificial intelligence analyzes hundreds of documents within seconds, identifies relevant product information and automatically structures the extracted data into a Digital Product Passport.

Instead of manually searching through individual files, transferring information into spreadsheets and repeatedly requesting missing documents from suppliers, companies can automate the entire DPP workflow through one centralized platform.

DPP-Flash does not only extract existing information. The platform also analyzes the available product data and identifies missing or incomplete information required for the Digital Product Passport. If relevant data or documentation is missing, the system can identify the responsible supplier and automatically initiate a request for the missing information or documents.

This creates an automated Digital Product Passport workflow covering document analysis, AI-powered data extraction, missing-data identification, supplier communication, data validation and DPP generation.

Once the required product information has been collected and processed, DPP-Flash generates a dynamic QR code that can be placed directly on a product or its packaging. Customers, business partners and other authorized stakeholders can use the QR code to access the corresponding Digital Product Passport and its relevant product information.

The DPP-Flash platform is also designed for long-term product data management. Product passport information can be hosted in the cloud for 15 years with revision-proof storage and a focus on DSGVO-compliant and ESPR-compliant data management. This allows companies to maintain a centralized digital record of their product information instead of relying on disconnected documents, spreadsheets and local archives.

Interoperability is another core component of the DPP-Flash platform. The solution supports structured product data and compatibility with technologies and standards such as GS1 and JSON-LD. This enables businesses to prepare product information for digital supply chains and exchange data between different stakeholders and systems across the European market.

DPP-Flash is particularly focused on small and medium-sized enterprises that often lack dedicated IT, data or compliance teams. The platform is designed to provide businesses with a practical way to create and manage Digital Product Passports without requiring extensive technical expertise or complex manual processes.

“Digital Product Passport compliance should not become another major technical hurdle for European SMEs,” says Co-Founder Nico Bergstreiser. “Our goal is to automate the process as much as possible. Companies provide the documents they already have, and our AI extracts and structures the relevant information. If something is missing, the system can take care of the next step automatically.”

Co-Founder Julian Gräfen emphasizes the importance of standardized product information for the future of digital supply chains: “Digital Product Passports only create real value if product information can be exchanged and accessed reliably across different companies and systems. That is why interoperability and standards such as GS1 and JSON-LD are an important part of our platform.”

With its market launch, DPP-Flash is positioning itself as a European provider of AI-powered Digital Product Passport software for businesses preparing for the next generation of EU product and sustainability requirements.

The company is now opening an exclusive pilot program for 20 selected manufacturing, retail and other product-based businesses. Pilot participants receive early access to the DPP-Flash platform, streamlined onboarding and technical guidance. Companies can test the complete Digital Product Passport workflow using their own product documentation and provide feedback before the platform becomes broadly available.

Following the pilot phase, DPP-Flash plans to offer flexible subscription plans that scale according to product catalog size and the number of Digital Product Passports generated.

DPP-Flash was founded by digital entrepreneurs Nico Bergstreiser and Julian Gräfen and is developing its platform as a European B2B SaaS solution for automated Digital Product Passport creation and ESPR compliance.

The company’s mission is to become a leading Digital Product Passport provider in Europe and make DPP compliance faster, simpler and more accessible for businesses across Germany and the European Union.

DPP-Flash combines AI-powered document processing, automated supplier communication, structured product data, GS1 and JSON-LD compatibility, dynamic QR codes and long-term cloud hosting in one Digital Product Passport platform. By automating the process from product documentation to DPP generation, DPP-Flash aims to help companies reduce manual compliance work and prepare their products for Europe’s evolving digital product requirements.
