MIRhosting strengthens security and compliance policy with integration of Handelzeker

ALMEREMIRhosting has further strengthened its security and compliance policy through the integration of solutions provided by Handelzeker. With this step, the company is investing in automated customer due diligence, sanctions screening, and enhanced risk and abuse management processes.

Handelzeker aims to make its solutions easily accessible to entrepreneurs, enabling them to contribute to the fight against terrorism and money laundering. MIRhosting’s collaboration with Handelzeker recently began and is currently in the implementation phase. The integration is carried out via an API connection, allowing customer data to be automatically screened against multiple international databases, including EU sanctions lists, PEP registers, and adverse media sources.

A broader perspective on security

According to MIRhosting, the meaning of “security” has significantly expanded in recent years. Whereas the focus was previously mainly on traditional infrastructure threats such as hacking and DDoS attacks, legal and compliance risks now play an equally important role.

As an internationally operating Dutch organization, MIRhosting takes this responsibility seriously. The company is restructuring its onboarding and control processes, with specific attention to sanctions risks, the Dutch Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act (Wwft), AML/CTF obligations, and potential terrorist financing.

Compliance and risk management

The implementation of structured customer controls serves both compliance and risk management purposes. In an infrastructure environment, blind spots can result in significant operational and reputational risks. By applying a risk-based approach to customer due diligence and continuous monitoring, MIRhosting protects its operational continuity, partners, and legitimate customers.

The company follows a strict privacy-by-default approach and complies with applicable regulations, including the GDPR, relevant EU directives, and the Digital Services Act. Customer content is only processed when explicitly requested or when a formal and lawful request is received from competent authorities.

Continuous improvement

Further strengthening of internal processes was prompted in part by a previous situation in which a customer became indirectly linked to sanctions. In accordance with applicable obligations, services were terminated immediately, and external legal expertise was engaged to ensure the process was handled carefully and properly documented.

“These situations can arise at any time, even after onboarding,” said Andrey Nesterenko, Founder of MIRhosting. “That is why we invest in stronger internal procedures and continuous monitoring. Handelzeker is an important component in this, but always within a broader system that we are actively improving.”

Expectations surrounding the collaboration are high. MIRhosting expects the integration to contribute to faster, more reliable customer checks and further professionalization of its security and compliance policy.
