Mobile Precision Farming App for North American Agriculture Under Development by Liquid Apps

The upcoming mobile app aims to make field guidance, mapping and operation tracking more accessible to farmers through smartphones and tablets.

Liquid Apps, a mobile technology company developing consumer and operational software products, is expanding into agricultural technology with a new mobile precision farming app designed around tractor-based field operations.

The app, currently under development, is being built for smartphones and tablets, with North America expected to be one of its primary markets.

Rather than requiring farmers to begin with a dedicated in-cab display, the app is designed to provide essential field guidance and operational tools through mobile devices they may already own.

Farmers will be able to establish AB guidance lines, follow parallel passes across a field, configure implement working width and offset, map and save field boundaries, manage tractors and implements, and keep digital records of completed field operations.

Making Digital Guidance More Accessible

Precision agriculture has become an important part of modern farming, particularly across large agricultural markets in North America. Professional guidance systems can provide high levels of positioning accuracy through dedicated GNSS receivers, RTK correction and automated steering systems.

Liquid Apps sees an opportunity to complement these technologies with a more accessible starting point.

“We are not trying to replace professional high-precision agriculture systems with a smartphone,” said Batuhan Özdemir, Founder and Managing Director of Liquid Apps. “Our objective is to make useful precision farming tools more accessible. If a farmer can begin using digital guidance with a device already in the cab, we can significantly lower the barrier to getting started.”

The app is being designed around the sequence of tasks an operator performs in the field. A farmer will be able to select a tractor or implement, enter the working width and offset, choose or create a field, establish an AB line and begin following parallel guidance lines.

The goal is to keep this process straightforward enough to be used inside the tractor cab without unnecessary setup steps.

“Our focus is to make the app as simple and practical as possible for real field conditions,” Özdemir said. “Farmers should be able to open the app, set up an operation quickly and get to work without dealing with unnecessary steps.”

From Field Guidance to Digital Work Records

Beyond navigation, Liquid Apps is developing the app as a tool for recording agricultural operations.

Planned capabilities include saved field boundaries, tractor, combine and implement management, and work records for operations such as tillage, planting, spraying, fertilizing and mowing.

More consistent guidance can help operators reduce unnecessary overlap and missed areas during fieldwork. At the same time, recording completed operations digitally can give farmers a clearer history of what was done, where it was done and which equipment was used.

This reflects a broader shift in agriculture toward measuring not only production, but also operational efficiency.

“Modern agriculture is increasingly about asking not only how much we produced, but how efficiently we produced it,” Özdemir said. “How much fuel was used? Where did unnecessary overlap occur? Was the operation properly recorded? Can that information help make the next operation better?”

A Path Toward Greater Positioning Accuracy

Liquid Apps also plans to explore support for external GNSS equipment as the app develops.

Smartphone positioning can provide an accessible entry point for basic field guidance, while operations requiring greater precision may benefit from dedicated positioning hardware.

The company’s longer-term approach is to allow farmers to begin with the capabilities of their mobile device and potentially connect compatible external GNSS equipment when greater accuracy is required.

“A farmer may begin with a smartphone and later decide that a particular operation requires greater positioning accuracy,” Özdemir said. “We want to develop an app that can grow with those needs.”

This approach could allow farmers to continue using the same mobile app as their positioning requirements change and as additional hardware is introduced.

Built With North American Field Operations in Mind

North America is expected to play an important role in the app’s development and commercialization.

The product is being shaped around common tractor-based workflows, including farms operating multiple tractors and implements, varying working widths, repeated seasonal operations and the practical requirements of using a mobile device inside a tractor cab.

The United States is expected to be one of the app’s primary initial markets, while the broader North American agricultural sector remains an important area of focus for future development.

Liquid Apps also plans to study agricultural technologies and operational practices used across different farming regions.

Precision guidance and satellite positioning are already widely used across North American agriculture, while other agricultural markets have developed expertise in areas such as irrigation efficiency, sensor-based production, automation and the management of large agricultural areas through positioning technologies.

Although farming conditions differ between regions, the underlying objective remains similar: using technology to make field operations more measurable, consistent and efficient.

Expanding Mobile Technology Into Field Operations

The agricultural app forms part of Liquid Apps’ broader expansion into software for real-world operational environments.

Alongside agricultural technology, the company is also working on technologies for mining and heavy industry, particularly in areas such as workflow digitization, field data collection, operational reporting and equipment utilization.

Across farms, mines and industrial facilities, substantial physical work takes place outside traditional office environments. Information about those operations can remain fragmented across paper records, individual workers and disconnected systems.

Liquid Apps aims to apply its mobile product development experience to these environments by creating software that makes operational information easier to collect, access and use.

The new precision farming app is currently under development. Additional product capabilities, availability information and launch details are expected to be announced as development progresses.
