Staten Island Filmmaker Gains Fan Base and Collects Accolades

With the latest film release, André Joseph is putting Staten Island on the independent film map

When people think of independent films, it’s not usually Staten Island that comes to mind. However, that’s all about to change with the new release of André Joseph’s latest film. With the spotlight he’s garnering and the accolades being bestowed upon him, he’s turning heads and showing what Staten Islanders are capable of. Proudly being from the Staten Island borough, his latest film was also largely filmed there.

“I’m a Staten Island native and love being able to put this great area into my films,” said André Joseph, filmmaker, actor, and owner of the New York-based independent film production company AJ Epyx Productions. “I’m excited about this new film release and look forward to sharing it with the masses.”

Joseph is from Staten Island, which is where his love of films began. When he was only 13, he made his first independent film. He then went on to have his love of film further ignited when he attended a 4-week summer program at the New York Film Academy. When it was time to take his studies seriously and put his career plans into action, he studied at Emerson College, earning a bachelor’s degree in film.

His latest film, “The Last Vendetta,” is the exciting conclusion to the Vendetta trilogy.

The new crime thriller will be released on Prime Video on August 29, 2025, as well as on Fandango Home, Verizon Fios, and on cable providers, including Spectrum, Charter, Cox, and Xfinity. It will be released on Tubi on September 12, 2025. The Last Vendetta Film Release Extravaganza will be held on September 6, from 6 pm to 9 pm, at 232 East 9^th Street in New York City. Tickets for the event are available on Eventbrite.

Joseph has been active in writing, producing, directing, and starring in several films, including his first feature film in 2008, titled “Priceless.” He has received many accolades for his work over the years, including best director, best feature film, best actor in a feature, best music video, and more. His latest film won “Best Urban Action Film at the 2024 Urban Action Showcase and “Best Director” at the New York City and State TV, Plays, and Films Festivals.

“This is only the beginning, because I feel like I’m just getting started,” added Joseph. “I’m happy to be able to have a career doing what I love and can’t wait to put out more films. It’s an honor to be a part of this industry.”
