SHERIDAN, WY, UNITED STATES — Z-TEXT LLC, developer of a privacy messenger built on the BitcoinZ blockchain, is adding disposable messaging identities: separate, temporary identities for people who want to communicate without registering a phone number, SIM card or email address.
Z-TEXT launches publicly on Monday, October 5, 2026, for Android, macOS, Windows and Linux at z-text.com, with iOS coming to the App Store. Creating a disposable identity costs $3.
A temporary identity without a permanent profile
A disposable identity is separate from a user’s primary Z-TEXT identity and is intended for temporary communication. Each identity is its own 24-word seed.
“A temporary identity can be useful when someone does not want a short-term contact or conversation connected to their primary identity,” said Eric Pierrot, founder of Z-TEXT LLC. “The feature follows the same design principle as the rest of Z-TEXT: messaging does not require a phone number.”
Each disposable identity has its own local key. When the user removes that key, access to the identity is no longer available through that key.
Removing the local key does not delete information already recorded on the BitcoinZ blockchain. Z-TEXT distinguishes between removing local access to an identity and removing data from the blockchain. The company does not present the feature as a way to make blockchain messages disappear: the identity is disposable, the content is not deleted.
Five functions in one application
Disposable identities are one of five functions in the Z-TEXT app, alongside a shielded messenger, a BTCZ wallet, a password manager and Channels, an on-chain broadcast feature. Identity comes from a 24-word seed phrase instead of a phone number, email address or SIM card.
Z-TEXT uses zk-SNARKs zero-knowledge proofs to shield who is messaging whom, encrypts message content on the device with AES-256-GCM, and protects the key exchange with a hybrid post-quantum design combining ML-KEM-768 and X25519.
Transparency
Z-TEXT publishes a technical threat model describing the application’s design and known limitations. The Z-TEXT app has not yet had an independent third-party security audit. The company runs a funded bug bounty paying up to $1,500 per finding, in ZEC.
